Rendering almost complete

24/06/2012
We haven't been receiving any updates from our SS for the last 3 weeks which I assumed this was due to the rain, so I thought I should leave a SMS. Got a message back saying that he has been leaving voice mail messages for the past two weeks, which I find a bit hard to believe as:

1. I have visual voice mail service on my phone so it's really easy to see if anyone has left messages.
2. I can easily see all my missed calls on my iphone
3. I don't have anyone else complaining about me not returning calls.

Anyway finally spoke to our SS and he said that they have almost finished the rendering. Only thing left is the portico.

Looking over the garage

We opted for privacy windows for bedrooms over the standard

Additional window we asked to be installed into bedroom 3, basically allows us to look over the backyard. Vision is limited due to the roof and tree but still an okay view.

The rumpus room roof

With the massive gum tree we have, it's expected that we'd have lots of leaves :(

Rumpus and grand outdoor room

From left to right, rainwater tap, hot water, cold water and gas
I'm guessing that the white strips on both sides of the wall are control joints to allow for expansion, contraction, foundation movement etc.

  1. Hmmm, that gum tree is going to mean a lot of cleaning up on your roof. You should probably make it a regular chore, maybe once every two weeks, to clean out your roof. It would be best to make sure the roof and the gutters are clean of any debris, natural or otherwise, for when the rains come. Blocked gutters and dirty roofs can cause rain waters to come inside the house instead of flowing freely outside and out of the downspouts.

  2. You're definitely correct about that, Alison. The leaves or debris may block the gutters and may cause the water to flow through your sidings and ceiling all the way to the inside of your house. Cleaning the roof is a good idea, but in their case, removing the old gutter and installing it on the other side of the roof where the leaves wouldn't fall on the gutter might be a better idea. It won't eliminate the fact that you should clean your roof, but it's a good preventive measure.

  3. We really need to exert a lot of effort during reconstruction. Congratulations for being almost done with this beautiful outcome! The roofing, sidings as well as the windows complement with each other’s color. What I love about this house is the asphalt roofing. This kind of material is affordable and has a variety of styles to choose from. And I must admit, you have chosen just the right color.

  4. You have a lovely and vibrant shingles. It's just sad that along the road, falling leaves are waiting to pour on your roof. Anyway, to avoid future damage, you might as well check regularly and clean off the falling leaves, or you might want to cut down the tree.

  5. You might want to cut down that massive gum tree you mentioned. Instead of cleaning your roof every time leaves fall off, save the time to do so, and cut the tree down. It may even be dangerous to keep climbing up and down the roof.
